| The Adventures of Super Robin! |
[Nov. 29th, 2006|10:24 pm] |
Ryan: Muahahahahahaha Ryan: I shall have your kneecaps! Robin: i shall have your head on a copper platter Ryan: Osh. Robin: hahaha Robin: Osh indeeeed Ryan: You wouldn't have the strength to do it! You and your skinny arms. Robin: me and my karate and judo skills Ryan: I bet... Robin: i could slice your head off with my elbow Ryan: Wow. That's some might powerful wishful thinking. Robin: more like mighty powerful headcutting skillz Ryan: Yes. Super Robin! With his amazing powers of self-delusion. Ryan: I would imagine you as the sort of super hero who would wear a pair of scooby-doo underoos on his head. Robin: and even with that handicap i would still save the day multiple times each day Robin: kicking evil's booty and winning fair maidens Ryan: Nah... With your super powers I would imagine that it's more likely you would simply think you did while in fact failing miserably, then end up huddled in the corner rocking back and forth with your head in your hands. Robin: Osh. Robin: even more likely i never left the house and instead slept through the assorted alien invasions, terrorist attacks, and bank robberies peacefully Robin: i'm a pacifist superhero Robin: like ghandi only without those freaky glasses Ryan: Yeah. Why bother with all that messy business of fighting evil. Robin: seriously Robin: who cares what evil does Robin: they always lose in the end anyways Robin: because evil is dumb Robin: or have i got this backwards Robin: good will always triumph because evil is dumb Ryan: No. It's "Evil will always triumph because good is dumb." -Spaceballs Robin: i'm rewriting it Robin: and obviously i knew it was a quote you would recognize Robin: otherwise that would have been a bit awkward Ryan: Your powers prove themselves once again. Robin: indeed Robin: you see my powers are as big as yours |

| Scheduling Woes |
[Nov. 9th, 2006|03:10 am] |
In two quarters of registering for classes at Cal Poly I've had two classes cancelled on me before the quarter has even started.
Which is two more then happened at De Anza, although I did have one class at De Anza cancelled the first day of the quarter (under enrollment).
I'm just that lucky.
They really messed up on the scheduling of the new sections too and now I have to rearrange my whole schedule, it really sucks. |

| On Cal Poly... |
[Sep. 28th, 2006|11:35 pm] |
On people who don't have Friday Classes...
Ryan: god damn business majors with no classes tomorrow. You'd think they could shut up. Bobby: i know! Bobby: bastards are pissing me off too Ryan: They're standing right outside my apartment talking really really loud. Bobby: same here, they're running around the mustang village campus yelling at each other Bobby: talking about shizzling nizzles Ryan: Business majors get paid way too much in our society imo. Bobby: lol Bobby: yeah Bobby: none of them deserve much
On no longer attending a fake college...
Scott: Having fun being a real college student? Ryan: Oh yes Ryan: Much better then being a fake one. Ryan: The classes are easier. Ryan: The social life existant. Ryan: People actually talk to each other in class. Ryan: Puppies ride on Unicorns over chocolate flavored rainbows. Scott: They give out free shrooms?!??!?!?!? Ryan: Nah, you have to pick em yourself. Ryan: This isn't UCSC!
On a certain ethnic group not being massively overrepresented...
Ryan: Nearly all the other apartments prominently feature a hookah in their living room... Steven H.: what's the ethnic ratio Ryan: Mostly white. Steven H.: like... 85%? Ryan: Somewhere around there Steven H.: haha no wonder Steven H.: =P Ryan: Just inverse Irvine.... Steven H.: exactly Ryan: Hey! Cal Poly's undergrad engineering program is better then Irvine's! Ryan: It's better then Berkeley's! Ryan: (According to US News) Ryan: We have the top public US engineering undergrad program! Steven H.: irvine's like 45-45 white-asian, 5% hispanic, and some black etc. Ryan: ANd the best public undergrad program in the West. Steven H.: hahahahaha Steven H.: oooOOOooooOOO Ryan: So it's still a very very good school. Just not overly asian like some other school. Ryan: (s) Steven H.: lol Ryan: I didn't bring my US news college stats magazine so I'm not entirely sure what cal poly looks like. Ryan: but 85% white sounds about right. Steven H.: and asians? Ryan: The students also are rather conservative, especially compared to the rest of california. Ryan: 10% maybe... Ryan: Which actually better reflects the state average ;) Steven H.: yes, asians tend to only flock at the good schools Ryan: And yet they don't go to Cal Poly which has the best undergrad program in the state! Steven H.: ohhhHHhhhhHHhhhhh BOO yea! Steven H.: best undergrad program for engineering, apparently Ryan: They must be afraid of going to TOO good of a school! Ryan: Best overall in the west for public undergrad programs. Steven H.: wow that was amazing Ryan: engineering is for the nation :) Steven H.: blah. Ryan: Not like that matters though, there's hardly any asians in engineering. Steven H.: haha boy you are outta your MIND!! |

| My Camera |
[Sep. 22nd, 2006|03:21 am] |
I have a Sony DSC-W5 I purchased last June that generally works for me and recieves quite a bit of abuse. It's taken more then its fair share of spills and bounces on concrete, and yet one time after I set it down on a hardwood floor it stops working! It starts to have problems retracting the lens.
So I get annoyed with it, and even open it up before deciding that if I dissassemble it too much it'll become completely unfixable. It already is way beyond warranty and would cost $181 to fix it when I come across a website saying that giving it a good jolt can get it unstuck.
So I fixed it... By throwing it against the carpet. Repeatedly.
It felt pretty good too! :) |

| Drinking makes you more successful! |
[Sep. 14th, 2006|04:39 pm] |
"Moderate drinkers, particularly men who hit the bar once a month, make at least 10 percent more than non-drinkers, according to a study promoted by a libertarian organization, Reason Foundation, that wants fewer regulations on alcohol. Women who drink make about 14 percent more."
From: The Mercury News
So see--- you're hurting yourself by not drinking, and it certainly puts Business Majors into perspective. They have to have all those parties! They're preparing for successful business careers! |

| I'm back! |
[Sep. 13th, 2006|06:30 pm] |
-- for another day or so now.
And I'm pretty sure the sun is brighter in California. It at least seems that way as it isn't cloudy all the time. I swear, my eyes were hurting earlier today!
I hope to write out some long thing about my trip to Illinois before it all slips my mind. In short it was long, but it was awesome. I have a ton of pictures that still need to be sort through somewhat, but I'll get to them eventually.
My car is still in the shop, it should be ready tomorrow, after which I'll be packing it up and moving to San Luis Obispo on Friday. |

| If you tried calling my cell phone in the past week... |
[Sep. 9th, 2006|12:30 pm] |
Odds are it didn't have a signal. It turns out Sprint PCS doesn't cover out this far from civilization, I only get a signal when we go into Springfield, but out by my grandparents house the only service provider around here is Cingular.
So yea. I'm out here for another day or so, then will spend a couple days in Champaign-Urbana and then back to Cupertino for two days before I move to San Luis Obispo.
When I get back to civilization I'll put up all my pictures and a post about my trip. |

It just does.
It's not like they really had to mess around with it, but they did. Now it looks ugly. |

| Trip down to SLO... |
[Aug. 23rd, 2006|01:25 am] |
So I dragged Gabe and Megan down to SLO with me, well, yesterday now.
I just realized I don't think I've ever spent more then ten hours down in SLO, it's always been there "just for a day..." Well that will change soon enough.
So anyways I wanted to talk to a councelor mostly to put to bed any fears I had about what classes I would need to take, or me completely fucking up on course requirements. Luckily there wasn't much I hadn't accounted for except a Upper Div writing req, everything else seems to have transferred pretty nicely. There was a course or two the counselor thought I could petition to get out of if I wanted but for the most part I was already signed up for them so I figure it'd be best just to take the classes. One of them (the Assembly class) I actually want to take, yes I know, I'm a sick sick person, but my x86 Assembly classes at De Anza were some of my favorite, so I can't see more assembly being too bad.
After that we went to the beach. I was trying to go to Pizmo beach but overshot it and ended up at Oceano Dunes. It was the first time I had ever driven on the beach and turned onto the dry sand a little too early and managed to bury the car. It actually was quite amusing and someone in a truck came on by and pulled us out, so it was all cool.
They were filming a car commercial on the beach too which was kinda cool to see. There was horses and a camera crew, it was kinda bizarre in a way.
Anyways, after a short time on the beach we went to downtown SLO for dinner (Pizza at Woodstock, yummy) then went home. Whoopee! 6 hrs of driving in one day.
Pictures are here for the curious: http://www.pangrle.com/gallery/v/slotrip/ |
